For Chiefs Fans/A Decade Of Players

POLLS CLOSE SUNDAY AT 10 A.M.

We are in the final days of a decade of Chiefs football and there have been hundreds of players who have passed through the portals of Arrowhead Stadium. It seems like hundreds in just the last two seasons, but we digress.

We want your selection of the Players of the Decade for the Chiefs. Over the next four days you’ll have the opportunity to vote for the man you think was the best player in the last 10 years. If you can’t settle on one, then give us all your choices. The more the merrier. Just attach a comment and tell us in 25 words or less about this player.

After four days, the polls will close and we will total up the nominations, let you know what the readers picked and then I’ll give you my top players of the decade.

Now is your opportunity to vote. The polls are open.

Will Shields. He was everything you could ever hope for in a player, and then some. A class act all the way, both on the field and off.

  • December 21, 2009  - Alan S. says:

It would have to be Tony Gonzalez the best tight end to EVER play the game.

  • December 21, 2009  - gorillafan says:

    1: Gonzalez
    2: Holmes
    3: Shields

It is a tough choice. Gonzalez maybe the best tightend ever, holmes has our rushing record and shields possibly our best o lineman

Me too on Tony G. Ironic that his new team has been eliminated from the playoffs this year in Tony’s first year with them through no fault of his own.

As it turns out, the Chiefs would not have been that much better with Tony G in 2009 and might, MIGHT, cash that Atlanta 2d round pick into something that will provide longterm excellent play for KC.

Pioli’s picking from the 2009 class does not fill me with a great degree of hope in that regard so maybe luck will be a lady for the Chiefs in the 2010 class?

In response to Dan’s posting, I think that numbers 4 and 5 actually “made” the offense. Without question in my mind, Tony G gets this award, with Will Shields a close second. Geez, really miss those days….

Sheilds / Gonzo while others could be at the top of the list ……..they where drafted by us…….. that should be the 1st requirment. PnS

  • December 25, 2009  - Dean in Columbia says:

Tony G. has to be number one. Priest was a near second. Tony just played more games this decade and provided great football on a more consitant basis. Even when he was the only real Pro bowler on the team.
