Practice Report Update 12/17
From the Truman Sports Complex
The Chiefs had all hands practice on Thursday as they continued preparations for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
Todd Haley took his team outside where they experienced weather conditions that sound like they will match what they will face at Arrowhead against the Browns: temperature in the 30s, with a light breeze and no precepitation.
WR Dwayne Bowe got his second practice session in after being away for a four-week NFL suspension and Haley remained reticent to declare him ready to play on Sunday.
“Dwayne made it through yesterday,” Haley said. “He’s picking up a handful of new stuff that we’ve evolved since the suspension. I’m encouraged by where he’s at in two days.”
QB Matt Cassel said of Bowe: “We have missed Dwayne over the last few weeks. He’s a playmaker and to have him back on the field will be great. He’s still trying to get caught up to speed. We are doing a lot of different things in the time since he left. It will be up to the coaches to decide how far he’s progressed during the week.”
LB Brian Waters (hamstring) and DE Glenn Dorsey (knee) were both working, but were limited in their participation, just as they were on Wednesday. It sounds like Haley expects both of them to be ready to go against Cleveland.
FS Jon McGraw (hand) remained limited in his work load and RB Dantrell Savage was added to the injury/practice report as a limited participant because of his continuing ankle problem. Savage suffered the injury on November 15th against Oakland.
DE Wallace Gilberry (back) was a full pariticpant on Thursday after being limited in Wednesday session.
On the injury/practice report for the Browns on Thursday were:
DID NOT PRACTICE: DL Robaire Smith (groin), DB Ray Ventrone (finger).
LIMITED: LB David Bowens (knee), DL Kenyon Coleman (knee), WR J oshua Cribbs (ankle), OL Rex Hadnot (knee), FB Lawrence Vickers (hamstring0, DB Eric Wright (hamstring).
FULL: LB Blake Costanzo (shoulder), RB Chris Jennings (shoulder), WR Brian Robiskie (toe), TE Robert Royal (finger).
Blackout hits the fans right between the eyes. Guess i will use my own tickets sunday. Bet the next home game will be against a hot team. Maybe the superbowl winner or loser to start next year, so I will keep my tickets one more year.
Just wanted to let you all in on these little stats
Bernard Pollard SS Houston Texans 10 games played
Tackles 78 (60 solo, 18 assists)
Passes Defended 5
Sacks 0
Interceptions 3
Yards off INT’s 107 (70 Long)
TD 1
Forced Fumble 1
Mike Brown has similar stats with 3 INT’s 2 Sacks and 80 tackles, but dang we could have kept Pollard he’s young and he’s good. I don’t see why get rid of him…
I would love a sean taylor/ed reed type safety playing our middle of the field if we could get that in the draft
I am looking at a safety with first round. or Suh if he drops that far. Then the OL with emphasis on center unless Waters leaves guard to replace Nutz. Could get 4 young starters in first three rounds, I know they did not do that this year but maybe next year.
Suh won’t drop that far and neither will Berry so the chiefs might as well look for OL help in Okung unless they believe Bryant is the best player on their board. The Chiefs need some speed on offense and help on the OL.
If we Get Okung, do we move Albert to left guard.. plus I heard there are some pretty sick centers coming out but they are heavier on the second round… To be honest i’d like a nice hard hitting or good midfield safety but a starting LT and C for the next 12 years would do just fine…
by the way is this game blacked out? thank god i’m going to see them sunday, it’s the last game of the decade
If you live withing 75 mi of KC, no you won’t.
Chuck – I’ve actually heard the opposite. According to the research I’ve done so far, there aren’t any centers worth taking in the first two rounds. We’ll see how that plays out in April I guess.
Also, we may yet have a shot at Berry or Suh or Okung. We have to beat these awful Browns before we get excited about picking outside of the top 5 again.
