Practice Update 8/25 A.M.
From the Truman Sports Complex
It was a hot, steamy morning for the Chiefs practice session Tuesday. And there were times during the two-hour session when the attitudes were hot and steamy as well.
At one point, LB Monty Beisel carried on an animated conversation with one of the coaches that got heated. Head coach Todd Haley jumped in and added his two cents as well. It was that kind of day.
But there was a lot of work that got done, although it was another tough day at times for the offense.
QB Matt Cassel led the first-team offense to a FG in the two-minute drill, orchestrating the drive perfectly as he hit four of six passes, including a big catch by WR Dwayne Bowe on the sideline against a blitz. Earlier in a blitz period, Cassel and the other Chiefs quarterbacks struggled going seven of 13 with several dropped interceptions. Things weren’t much better in the seven-on-seven drill in the scoring zone. The offense did have some success running the ball against the No. 1 defense.
New offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe were part of the practice session. Alleman worked at right guard with the backups, while Ndukwe was playing at right tackle. Haley said he expects both to play on Saturday against Seattle.
Some other stuff from the practice:
– Haley spent a lot of time with the wide receivers and quarterbacks during the workout. He’s done that a lot since the start of practices, but there was extra time on Tuesday with the pitchers and the catchers. Haley said there was a new concept being put into the offense and he wanted to make sure the players understood what needed to get done.
– RB Larry Johnson was back and working with the team, after sitting out Monday afternoon’s practice with a sore neck.
– Out of the practice and working in the rehab area were ILB Zach Thomas and RB Kolby Smith.
– During the practice, rookie TE Jake O’Connell injured his left ankle and had to be helped off the field. He was then taken by cart to the locker room. O’Connell was walking around in the locker room afterwards, so it does not appear to be a serious injury.
– K Ryan Succop was four of five on FGs during the practice. He missed from 37 yards, but then hit from 42, 46 and 49 yards. In the two-minute drill, he hit a 35-yard FG.
– Some players still don’t get it. For the second day in a row, NT Tank Tyler had to take a penalty run for jumping offsides. And rookie WR Quinten Lawrence was sent on a long run by Haley for not reacting to an interception while he was on the field.
– CB Maurice Leggett had another INT during the practice, grabbing QB Tyler Thigpen’s throw. Leggett with the ball is something that seems almost a daily occurrance. Also rookie CB Jackie Bates picked off QB Matt Gutierrez.
I think we might have ourselves a kicker finally! He hasn’t missed much in practice and is perfect so far in games. Also, it sounds like Bowe is working his tail off to try and get back on the front page. I would expect to see him get the start along with Bradley Saturday night.
And please, PLEASE! don’t feed the Animals!
JB
“CB Maurice Leggett had another INT during the practice, grabbing QB Tyler Thigpen’s throw.”
Looks like Cassel’s throwing less and less to the defense and Tyler’s throwing more and more to them.
See… Brodie’s arm… is great. Now, back out to my backyard. I’ve got some grazing to do!
I havent heard too much about Carr. Leggett is a play maker with big time speed. I cant believe he was never drafted.
“QB Matt Cassel led the first-team offense to a FG in the two-minute drill, orchestrating the drive PERFECTLY”
See? I knew my guy could do it.
teaches the Chiefs players how he wants them to conduct themselves when being interviwed:
Unlike the weather, another (not so) hot day on the field for the Chiefs. Arguments, near INTs, backup OL’man ‘not’ making an impression… the usual.
“Cassel . . . struggled . . .with several dropped interceptions.”
- hey, Mutt’s in mid-season form!
“New offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe were part of the practice session. Alleman worked at right guard with the backups”
- what, our gift from on high (Bill P) can’t even come in and unseat Washington or Colin Brown let alone Goff? Yup… got took.
“Ndukwe was playing at right tackle”
- until he realized he was now in KC instead of MIA so reared up & took off running…last seen heading for the airport…
(PS) Hey , how many 300 yard ‘laps’ for Monty Beisel’s insubordination?
heh heh heh!
Yup, everything is up to date in Kaycee!
&
I think our offense will score.. eventually. If our defense keeps improving, we could have a team that’d be in a position to win games, every game.
‘Fake’ rin’s NEVER win… heh heh heh!

“- what, our gift from on high (Bill P) can’t even come in and unseat Washington or Colin Brown let alone Goff?”
It’s his first freakin’ practice with the team. Only a TOTAL IDIOT would expect much from these two guys their first day here. Oh yeah…forgot who I was talking to. Carry on.
“It’s his first freakin’ practice with the team.”
- one freakin’ day less to suffer him afore his release final cutdown September…
“Only a TOTAL IDIOT would”
- welcome to Kaycee, Andy… meet & Scottie – take your pick.
“expect much from these two guys”
- no, nothing at all… some laughs perhaps.
“their first day here.”
- as every aft, descending…
“Oh yeah…forgot”
- don’t let it happene again SAS (no, not the envelope your attention span, Scottie)…
“who I was talking to.”
- one of your other 17; remember now, be ‘Sybil’ when talking to others on this public forum…
“Carry on.”

Leggett has had a “nose” for the ball, showed it last year also.
If you want Rin to stop littering all the comment sections, you have to stop reading/replying-to his comments. Let me save you the time; here’s how every attempted conversation with Rin goes:
Rin: Some contrarian opinion based off little to nothing, selective reasoning, ignorance, etc. in an attempt to anger you.
You: Rin that’s clearly wrong b/c of these facts… or… Rin you’re an idiot… or somethinig else to that affect.
Rin: Bunch of useless words and smiley faces and general irreverence to again play the agitator.
He doesn’t give a rats behind about discussing the Chiefs, he simply gets off on trying to anger people. Just wanted to make sure you know.
I will thank Rin for always putting emoticons in all his posts. It makes it easy to identify and skip. I haven’t accidentally read through his drivel in months.
Rin were you not excited when they signed Scott Pioli? I can understand not being thrilled about Haley because he’s unproven but Pioli comes in with a pretty good track record. Is it your loyalty to Carl Peterson that causes you to flog him so much? Just curious where your coming from with some of the stuff you say.
“rookie WR Quinten Lawrence was sent on a long run by Haley for not reacting to an interception while he was on the field.”
- sheesh, what a rookie; Rin senses a pattern nee trend such mental lapses (or is it laziness?) via this kid.
Rin wonders (as He wanders) didst Q remember to stop running, when he finished? I mean (double entendre) did say Q’s reactions were in question.
Rin wonders further (as he wanders): could Q’s middle name be Scottie?
‘Q’ Scottie Lawrence…hmm; one can’t play, the other can’t blog… brothers?

CC’s to uncuffed and Scan… heh heh heh
“…while Ndukwe was playing at right tackle.”
Doesn’t say much for D-Mac and B-Rinch does it…
I’d say D-Mac’s days are probably numbered.
“Uncuffed said
- I secretly adore Rin Tin Tin, but His heart belongs to another…and I am sadder for it.”
“If you want Rin to stop littering all the comment sections you have to stop reading /replying-to his comments.”
- is that how it works? Let Rin get a receptacle for this yours so we can safely sanitize it…
“Let me save you the time”
- well, you don’t have to go all ‘Carradine does Bangkok’ there uncuffed… an apology will do.
“here’s how”
- no no, you keep your methods flagellation to yourself…
“every attempted”
- no, ne’er have, ne’er e’er will…
“conversation with”
- hard to talk when you’re asphyxiating, by accounts…
“Rin”
- yes Kung- er, uncuffed?
“goes”
- I’m not looking, not gonna watch…
“Rin”
- nope, not gonna do it… wouldn’t be prudent.
“Some contrarian opinion based off little to nothing, selective reasoning, ignorance, etc. in an attempt to anger you.”
- lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalal!!!
“You”
- spoilsport, yes I know…but Rin’s NOT GONNA BE AN ENABLER YOURS!
“Rin that’s clearly wrong b/c of these facts”
- STOP MAKING EXCUSES…HAVE YOU NO SHAME!?!
“or”
- ENOUGH!
“Rin”
- what do you want me to say – that you’re an IDIOT? Alright… YOU’RE AN IDIOT! Now repeat after me-
“you’re an idiot”
- no no no, not that you IDIOT! Something-
“or somethinig else to that affect.”
- fine; simpleton, nincompoop, booby… what’s your preference? OH STOP YOUR CRYING NOW! I-
“Rin”
- yes, what is it now untapped- er, depantsed- er, I mean uncuffed? What is it you desire?
“Bunch of useless words and smiley faces and general irreverence to again play the agitator.”
- oh, you want Scottie- he’s usually standing right behind Rin (really close)…
“He doesn’t give a rats behind about discussing the Chiefs, he simply gets off on trying to anger people.”
- yes, he has no insight into anything beyond the contemplation his navel fuzz…
“Just wanted to make sure you know.”
- as the old gospel hymn, secularized & adapted his case: “there is no secret, Scott no can do.”

daddy-o
oh its 100 percent true, leggett takes one to the house on thiggy and its dropped interceptions, when earlier in camp thiggy threw a few that were dropped, but the focus is on cassel.
no respect for new players, or rookies
complete troll, not even a chief fan, if you see most “facts” are looked up, and current chief knowledge on his end is seriously lacking..

“Rin”
- yes, what is it now?
“were you not excited when they signed Scott Pioli?”
- yes – like extra portions of saltpeter at mess hall…
“I can understand not being thrilled about Haley”
- I can understand that… you’re a good man Charlie Brown.
“because he’s unproven”
- and wears a size 10 hat on a #2 head…
“but Pioli comes in with a pretty good track record.”
- his horse was the nag, the man holding the reins Secretariat in a Hoodie…
“Is it your loyalty to Carl Peterson that causes you to flog him so much?”
- I despised Carl Peterson – shall I say it again with more fervor this time?
“Just curious where your coming from with some of the stuff you say.”
- have iterated this afore…once more you Scan:
End of 2008, KC Chiefs quotes:
Herm: “I expect to be back.”
Jr: “I hope Herm comes back.”
Conclusion: Herm is comin back.
Result: Jr. panicked, his re$olve choked by his wallet, Herm went the way of the Bu$ine$$man’$ $pecial: bait & switch. Pinocchio by any other descript…
Enter ’search’ (short for ’searchme’)& ‘check’ (short for ‘checkpoint’) – two Saviors – no waiting…only, well, you can see the results through two games.
Herm would have succeeded had he the time- he got but 1 year of a rebuild that Jr. gave his blessing to afore succumbing to amne$sia.
? New big man on campus…since he did it one place he’ll do it again at another? Rin doth recall when the GB Packers – greatest team(s) in NFL history – saw Lombardi’s #1 assistant D-CORD Phil Bengston move from one place to another (as in Head Coach.)
Hey, it should have worked…the one guy worked with (more so ‘for’ as became evident) Lombardi, for Hoodie Bill. Only it didn’t.
Phil was sub .500 in his 3 seasons before getting fied. He later went to SHAZAM! the Patriots where he was interim Head Coach and later too Director of Pro Scouting…. The End.
? He brought his smugness and 5 o’clock shadow to KC, and almost immediately aft made his All Pro OG & ‘veteran’ presence (note the importance said based on the love affair that and have had with such to date) Brian Waters feel (by all reports & Rin’s own inside knowledge) feel as if he was carrying the plague.
Yup, nothing like a positive first impression (and this guy ‘check’ a Communications major, supposedly.)
So then in summary, is Rin impressed by them dually, & ? Should he be? Why?
This is ‘Show Me’… so far all they have proven is – “I can take any 22 guys from off the street and… go 0-2.”
And now you know the ‘rest’ of the story…

Kenny says:
I think our offense will score.. eventually. If our defense keeps improving, we could have a team that’d be in a position to win games, every game.
I love your optimism, Kenny…especially as the Chiefs face one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this year. Unfortunately I can’t say I agree with your optimism…but I like it a lot. Keep it coming. It’s better than a lot of the comments we have to scroll past.
Love your posts Rin! Keep on rockin and keep on stamping out blog boredom!
Dan, you da man – you can count on me, i.e., you had He that is me Rin at hello!
daddy-o
I like what you’re doing Rin, the only reason I ever get on this site anymore is to see your words of wisdom.
For serious.
Well Ty, it is Bob G’s site – Rin just sprinkled some magic His in & made it an even better venue.
Now then – uncross your fingers/cross your heart & swear to die if you be less than genuine your well founded Rin affirmation…really, He’s just one of the boys – only better!

id say d-mac days are gone. maybe 3rd string at best. but imo thats a good thing. eventhough these 2 players hadnt caught on elsewhere, dont mean they cant here. and lets face it, some of our starting o-line would be on other teams 2nd string at best. i like the move, i like all of em. i just to have to remind myself to be patient this year!!!
Question: Where is the line forming to hire Herm? Answer:
Crickets
Gretz obviously doesn’t read the comments section on his blog. If he did I can’t imagine he’d let this nonsense continue. It’s a damned joke!
Seahawks sign former Chief OG/C Brian De La Puente – BDLP gonna come into Kaycee Saturday night & put a hurtin’ on the Chiefs defensive line…
When we had Herm, I felt hopeless as a Chiefs Fan, but with Haley.. even though unproven, I am seeing signs that we might have one of the best young coaching talents in all of football. I just love the attitude that he will do “anything and everything to make us a better football team”.
Also looks like his strategy with Bowe is paying dividends.
Oh… and I would be remiss if I didn’t add ..”Rin – you are still and idiot”
Good day Rin….. I SAID GOOD DAY RIN!!
You just never know from one day to the next…
The Chiefs are in overdrive right now.
The guessing, the new guy(s), who’s on first string?, who we going to keep?, who should be gone?, when are we going to see decals on helmets?, what the hell is up with the o-line?, what is our biggest weakness?, who should we sign?, is there any hope?, Haley is’nt talking, same old rhetoric. Everyone keeps responding to an old dog…
Somebody save me from all this madness.
Well, Well, Well… What do we have here?
We can’t save the planet, the president is on vacation (thank God). Everything you do or eat causes cancer. The Chiefs have been sucking hind tit for way too long.
Yet, here we are. flogging away with our opinions & thoughts, trying to make sense of it all.
I’ve got a great idea… Let’s stick to our passion for the Chiefs, praise the positive, debate the real issues. Believe there’s a Super Bowl on the horizon & ignore the “old dog”. It is so easy. Just try it. He will plug your name, just to get a response. If he plugs my name, I will never know. Because I ignore the “old dog”… See how easy that is. 30 day free trial if you sign up now. Try it today…
Go Chiefs…
swartzinator said (nee sighed)
“Oh”

“… and I would be remiss if I didn’t”
- as well in denial if you claimed otherwise…
“add”
- attention deficit disorder? Who’s your doctor?
“Rin”
- very well: take 2 cyanide capsules & don’t call me in the morning…
“you are still and idiot”
- ‘both’? Still AND idiot? Stealthy be He that is me to be sure- however, by all available evidence Rin is a Super-ego to your id…
Game, set, match > daddy-o
“It’s a damned joke!”
- no, it’s – he’s a first time head coach, but amusing nevertheless (in a Gomer Pyle sense.)
Stiv, aka angst man (not to be confused with former NBC-TV AFL color man Elmer Angsman)…
Another teams trash is your quote, correct puppy?
Well, Green Bay was happy with the Atlanta’s trash, some guy named Favre. Ditto Jacksonville, with Mark Brunell, and the Chiefs with Willie Roaf a player they got for conditional picks.
I am not saying that these two ex-fishes will be probowlers, just better than what is in camp now.
You are starting to look like Randall”Tex” Cobb against Holmes, just keep letting them hit you RTT0w eventually they will wear out.
man i just love getting anal sex
We do too fake rin tin tin!
Que? What’s that lower case man nee stubby?
“Well”
- well?
“Green Bay was happy with the Atlanta’s trash, some guy named Favre.”
- former #2 choice that cost a #1… alas, not so happy were they Green Bay to trade 2 #1s, 2 #2s & a #3 for QB John Hadl in ‘74; he lasted but 1 1/2 years, threw 3 tds & 8 ints.
And your point?
“Ditto Jacksonville, with Mark Brunell”
- drafted with a #3 pick, brought a #3 & #5 in return to GB who didn’t need him anyway…2009, KC trades a high #2 (a nigh on late #1 choice) for Mutt Ca$$el & the privilege of blowing $63 mill for being violated.
And your point?
“and the Chiefs with Willie Roaf a player they got for conditional picks.”
- no, ‘a’ pick as in #3 choice…and how did KCs trade of DT Curley Culp and a #1 draft choice to the Oilers in 1974 for DE John Matuszak work out?
Again, your point?
“I am not saying that these two ex-fishes will be probowlers, just better than what is in camp now.”
- based on what evidence you’ve gleaned in the last 24 hours? If these 2 stiffs- sorry, meant Alleman & Ndukwe were going to be (it appeared) released anyway by MIA, then what…did and get antsy result that stunning 0-2 start theirs? Want to get the 2 new blocks of granite assimilated into this burgeoning 0-16 Kaycee machine?
DEN got Hochstein a versatile NE player (C/OG) and a two-time World Champion for a late draft choice too; did the Broncos HC Josh McDaniels ’school’ ? We shall see/looks like he might have.
“You are starting to look like Randall”Tex” Cobb against Holmes, just keep letting them hit you RTT0w eventually they will wear out.”
- psst!… Rin’s over here steve Wepner (Bayonne Bleeder)…
Wonder what they see in G-Tavares Washington. He’s still second on the depth chart behind Goff, but I don’t know if he’s even played so far. Hasn’t he been on the sidelines most of the time? If he’s got anything, he better show it quick.
Has anyone else notice DL-Derek Lokey. He’s been playing both NT and DE. He’s small but quick, with a heckuva motor. He’s fun to watch. Maybe he could stick as no7 DL.
From the KC Star RedZone:
One of the Chiefs new blocks of granite, Ndukwe – (gesundheit) talks about what KC had to give up to get the dynamic Dolphins duo.
“Andy & I were joking about it,” Ndukwe said. “We thought it was maybe a pack of chiclets & an old fingernail clipper.”
- confidence be a beautiful thing – but fear of failure is palpable. This guy is a waiver wire transaction waiting to happen from the sound of him… nice pick up ,
August 22, 2009 – CK says:
I’m going to try one more time because I have a lot of respect for Bob Gretz, and I appreciate his efforts for DT.
FOR GOD SAKES, STOP RESPONDING TO RINT-TOOT-TURD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In fact the best thing would be to stop posting at all until Bob decides it’s important enough to block R-T-Turd’s IP address from this site.
This R-T-Turd is obviously not a Chiefs fan, he is messing with this site and you all are accommodating his perverted sense of self worth.
FOR BOB’S SAKE STOP IT!!!!!
Now when he fake posts me…I won’t respond.
I am 100% behind Pioli/Haley and THE Kansas City Chiefs! I can’t wait to sit in our 40 yd line season tickets and watch our new regime rebuild our beloved team.
To the poster CK above
Go sell crazy somewhere else. We’re all stocked up here.
I am leaving, any post with my name from now on is fake. Dont read it. Someone will post on this and say that this is fake, but its not, green eyes is what they have.
I agree; Lokey is fun to watch.
Don’t believe that the two new guys on OL are saviors, just a possible improvement over what we have. The rebuild of this line will take a couple of years and we will probably see several players come and go. We aren’t 1 or 2 players from being a contender so they are picking up pieces and trying to put a more respectable team on the field. Once they get guys who practice and play their way, they can just upgrade talent. Not easy, not quick, but the only way to do it right.
I agree, D-Mac is long gone. He can bitch about having to run on someone else’s team. B-rich may hang around just because he is still young and could improve. Goff may be gone as well since he should’ve been a quick fix at guard.
