Another Winning Trip To Oakland

From Oakland, California

While it was a cold, cloudy, gray Sunday in the Midwest, it was a picture perfect California afternoon in the city where the author Gertrude Stein said, “there is no there there.”

But in Oakland, there is victory for the Kansas City Chiefs. For the seventh straight year, under three different head coaches and four different starting quarterbacks, the Chiefs left Al Davis’ town with a victory. This time it was 16-10, and the Chiefs grabbed their second victory of the season.

A classic this game was not, but then that mattered not to the Chiefs. One of the hardest things to do in the NFL is to beat a division opponent on the road. Luckily for Todd Haley’s team, the Raiders played their normal giving role, as they had trouble all day with throwing and catching the football.

It was an afternoon where RB Jamaal Charles (above) established himself as the next feature running back. It was a game where the Chiefs defense gave up a big play early, but then held the Raiders in check. It was a day when Oakland coach Tom Cable benched his starting quarterback, as JaMarcus Russell had another brutal day.

There’s was plenty to write about, and it’s all here:

Todd done what he said he could do “Win 2 games with 53 guys off the street”. Give the man his due even if it was ugly.

Now I hope Scott and Todd can move forward and build the Chiefs over the next 2 years into a Championship Winning Team.

    Go Chiefs!!!

You know overall it was a very typical Chiefs vs. Raiders game, they both played hard and oakland had a ton of penalties. Our boys showed they want to win and they put together a much better effort good game! And one last thing……….Larry Who?? is right, how about our running game? not to bad, one game at a time.

It is always about the TEAM and the right 53!!

In Coach Haley I trust …you should too.

    GO CHIEFS!!!

Ugly game. Easily the worst I’ve seen all year. The Chiefs looked inept. The Raiders looked worse…thanks to Jamarcus Russell. And the officiating was a complete joke.

The only bight spot I saw was Charles. He looked pretty good at times. Unfortunately, he looked pretty average at other times. I’ll be shocked if he has that kind of success against the Steelers, though.

I’m glad they won, but let’s face it…you can basically count on one finger the number of teams you can play that bad against in the NFL and still win.

We’ve equaled last years win total, so I guess that’s a sign we’re not any worse than we were last year? Not sure on that one. But if there isn’t some improvement really soon, I see this teams only other chance at victory against Cleveland.

We will beat the Broncos at least once. You read it here first.

    I hope you’re right, Harold.

On the subject of predictions, with Westbrook likely out for the season…I predict Larry Johnson will be an Eagle very soon.

Agreed. They’re playing with heart – and it was enough to put another one on the W-column (consequently we’re now two wins higher than a certain Raider predicted).

I was wrong again. Looks like LJ is headed to Cinci.

Which means we will be seeing him again this year.

A win is a win and we needed that one. Give Haley and team credit.

Just remembering all the wrangling over who was the best QB in KC. We all need to get down on our knees and be thankful the Chiefs do not have J. Russell. He may well be the worse player at his position in the entire history of the NFL.

Cannot post anything, it was a good win anyway.

Charles ran for 3.4 yards w/o the 44 yard run. The team ran for 2.26 yards w/o Charles 44 yd run. Charles and Smith are good 3rd down backs, but can’t run between the tackles. Charles needs to improve his ball security. Savage is an AF2 back up.

I do think Cassel will be a top 10 or better QB if we can get some reasonable talent around him.
