Chiefs Reach Deal With Brown

The Scout website is reporting Wednesday morning an agreement between the Chiefs and fifth-round draft choice Colin Brown.

Reportedly it’s a three year deal, totaling $1.34 million with a signing bonus at $154,000.

Brown was represented by agent Joe Linta.  He becomes the second of eight draft choices to agree to terms with the team,  joining K Ryan Succop.

not sure why, but a lot of us had brown as the next to sign. Just seemed to fit.

I hope everyone gets signed by camp.

Speaking of Browns, reports are that safety Mike Brown will be signed by the Chiefs. A good thing, in my opinion, but raises the question of how many DB’s the team is planning on carrying.

PFT is reporting it’s a done deal, with Brown.

Colin must have given the Chiefs the hometown discount. If the numbers are accurate, his deal is only 100 grand more than Succop’s! Seems a little low to me. Glad two of our choices are signed at this point.

Not sure why we need Mike Brown when we already have several good safties. I lived in Chicago from 2005-2008 and they LOVE Mike Brown up there. They were always so heartbroken when he’d get hurt EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

I hope the next FA we here signed by the Chiefs is Amanni Toomer.

    ILChiefsFan,

Don’t be surprised if Pollard gets some time at inside LB.

  • June 24, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

    Colby,
I live on the fringes of Bear country and I spend a lot of time in Chicago. I know what you’re saying about the injuries, but when he’s on the field Brown is an outstanding playmaker.

Pollard plays hard and is a great physical talent, but in my opinion he makes too many mistakes. He needs to be pushed and/or mentored to step up his game. Brown could do that for D. Morgan as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Recent statements from Pollard seem to be hinting at that also.

It’ll be interesting to see what players the Chiefs release next. That could tell us something.

And here’s another two to ‘grow’ on ‘fake’ Rin:

    ‘check’ = 0 wins career.

‘check’ = 0 Pro Bowl offensive lineman impressed.

    - and 0 Pro Bowl OLBs by way of NE too…

Well, let’s ‘check’ at the end of the year for a win total. How’s that? He hasn’t LOST a game yet, either.

And I wonder just how “impressed” Haley was with Water’s fat, out-of-shape ass at mini-camp? So I guess it probably goes both ways, huh?

  • June 24, 2009  - Rip 'em a new one says:

OK, my view on the Brown signings.

Mike Brown, if he can stay healthy in even a limited role, should be a nice addition. He has ballhawk skills and can bring the wood. Plus the guy is just 31 years old, might prove a valuable mentor to the young lions, and we might see a vintage year or two from him. So, that’s good.

Colin Brown is yet another mountain of a man who looks to be a project but sometimes these guys surprise, especially if he learns to move his feet and bend his knees. One thing you can’t coach is massive size and he has it so a good roll of the dice.

He appears to already have the spread offense pass blocking down pat and that’s a good start, particularly with Cassel and Thigpen’s talents in running that offense often from their 2008 seasons.

Now the question remains: What can Brown do for you? (Couldn’t resist).

  • June 24, 2009  - colby says:

Nice work Rip’em! I’m not dogging Mike Brown, I’m just not sure that safety is a big concern for this team right now. I would rather see another proven WR like Toomer (mentioned above by another poster) or maybe another OL with some experience to at least come in and compete and push the players we already have on the roster. Also, with Edwards, Tyler and Lokey apparently the only players on the roster competing to be the NT, I wouldn’t mind seeing them bring in another widebody with some potential to try out at camp. I know they’re probably not finished adding talent yet, but safety just doesn’t seem to be an area of concern, with our without Mike Brown.

    - give him time - by seasons end 2009 - ‘check’ has never ‘coached’ an NFL team; however, a wonderfully mediocre golfer…too.

Waters is out of shape, but he still is the best OL we have right now… I dont think that Mike Brown will do much for the chiefs from the IR…

    - Rin will save you time: KC - zip, zilch, nada…

    “How’s that?”

    - a zero, like you…

“He hasn’t LOST a game yet, either.”

    - he’s started getting practice early by losing players/their confidence: Waters, Vrabel & more to follow their lead…

    “And I wonder”

    - yes, Rin could sense your open-mouthed countenance as soon as you first blogged…

“just how “impressed” Haley was with Water’s fat, out-of-shape ass at mini-camp?”

    - Brian showed him “how much” he was impressed by showing up as such aft ‘check’s “any 22″ - TOUCHE!

    “So I guess”

    - don’t guess…be like Rin: perfect.

“it probably goes both ways, huh?”

    - no, this only one Rin Tin Tin!

    - you are correct; but don’t say anything to stop em - let ‘em stew - they’re so cute when they get all caught up in their own angst & invective…

Rin has a good laugh at their expense - several times daily!

Hmmm. Seems like pretty much EVERTHING I’ve read and heard from the players is how much they like “Haley’s Way”. It’s all been positive, whether you like it or not. And I’d say they know WAY more about it than you do.

And if Waters can’t get over having his wittle feewings hurt by his bosses…then screw him. And if Vrable’s pissed that he got traded here…then screw him, too. Get ready to play…or get the hell outta’ the way. Period.

    - and I’d say for a first time golfer- er, head coach, ‘check’ is a wonderful duffer…

“And if Waters can’t get over having his wittle feewings hurt by his bosses…then screw him.”

    - change that name to ‘check’ and you have the flip side…get over it ‘check’- it’s not your way or the highway, it’s a 2-way street called communication: find nee get some - today!

“And if Vrable’s pissed that he got traded here…then screw him, too.”

    - your testosterone filled rants are amusing - coming from a neut…

“Get ready to play…or get the hell outta’ the way. Period”

Trust me, if King Carl hadn’t taken Herm off the Jets hands they would have fired him as well!! As Bill Parcells says “your are what your record says you are”, and in Herms case, that’s a loosing coach!
Read between the lines. Herm was fired!

  • June 24, 2009  - Mark says:

Anonymous is absolutely correct. The J-E-T-S were going to fire Herm, because He actually demanded a contract extension going into his final year on his contract, off a 4 win season. Then the idiot Carl swooped in and offered them a draft choice for him. After they got off the floor laughing, the J-E-T-S quickly accepted before Carl could get sober. Jet fans couldn’t believe there was someone stupid enough to actually WANT Herm Edwards to be their Head Coach. So the J-E-T-S rid themselves of a clueless Head Coach, AND got Leon Washington with the pick they stole for ridding themselves of a horrible coach. Next to the Hershel Walker deal, that might be one of the best deals in NFL history.

Fake Rin, if you’re going to attempt to impersonate Rin, at least get your facts straight.

SG now makes a motion that we trade all fake Rin’s who can’t get their facts straight to the Donks for one roll of unused toilet paper for training use for LJ when he someday grows out of those diapers.
