Practice Report 9/23

From the Truman Sports Complex

For the first time in a month, the Chiefs had no new faces on the roster for a Wednesday practice.

And all 61 players – 53 active roster and eight practice squad guys – took part in the full pads session.

Really, the only new faces at this workout were manager Terry Francona and members of the Boston Red Sox, who watched practice with GM Scott Pioli. The Sox are in town playing a series against the Royals.

QB Matt Cassel (left knee), CB Brandon Flowers (left shoulder) and LG Brian Waters (left ankle) were all on the practice field and active during the brief window available for the media.

On the club’s practice report, they listed Cassel, Flowers, Waters, TE Jake O’Connell (ankle) and ILB Derrick Johnson (groin) as limited participants.

Earlier in the morning, Eagles coach Andy Reid told the media that QB Donovan McNabb did not practice on Wednesday as he continues to recover from a rib injury suffered on opening day.

And Reid would not commit to using the now available Michael Vick. He wouldn’t even commit to the fact that Vick will be active against the Chiefs on Sunday in Philadelphia.

“I think he’s in pretty good shape,” Reid said during a speaker-call with the K.C. media. “I’m not sure exactly how we will use him or if he’ll play or how much he’ll play.”

Chiefs coach Todd Haley said his team is prepping to see Vick as part of the Eagles offense. “If he’s active, you would expect he would be some part of the Wildcat offense,” said Haley. “I know there were a lot of times playing down there in Atlanta where I was holding my breath when he was holding the football. There’s a fear factor.”

Reid reported on Wednesday that G Shawn Andrews (back) G/T Todd Herremans (foot) and former Chiefs CB Dimitri Patterson (hand) are out of Sunday’s game because of injury. Patterson suffered a fractured hand and had surgery. WR DeSean Jackson did practice Wednesday because of a groin strain. RB Brian Westbrook has a slightly sprained ankle and was held out of Wednesday’s work. The coach said Westbrook is “a day-to-day thing there.” Both Jackson and Westbrook are expected to play against the Chiefs.

CB Dimitri Patterson – yet ANOTHER former Herm’s Chief on another NFL roster – heh heh heh!

Meanwhile, $63 million ‘money pit’ backup QB mutt ca$$el still with an owwee on his nee- er, knee.

Rin throughly enjoyed Jason Whitlock’s column today – here my favorite quote:

“We’re two weeks into the Haley-Egoli regular-season marriage, and I believe we’ve just seen our first public sign these guys might be unequally yoked. There are definite signals they disagree about Egoli’s Sixty Million Dollar Man.”

    - EXACTLY SO!

Brodie Croyle will play this Sunday – it may be in relief of the perpetually ineffective mutt or be a precursor to a full blown controversy and a new starting QB in Kaycee come week 4!

    Wow, you’re one weird mofo.

  • September 23, 2009  - Mad Chief says:

Whitlock gets PAID to stir sh*t up. He, and others in the media, are making a big deal over nothing. Slow news week, so let’s pull one teeny thing the coach says, and try to make a story. The only “controversy” is one the media is trying to make up to sell their goods. Cassel is the starter. Period. Haley knows it. Cassel knows it. Croyle knows it. Every guy on the team knows it.

“Perpetually ineffective”? Cassel? After one game? Bubba, you really do need to put that doobie down. It’s bad for your health, and judging from the way you write, you don’t have the brain cells to waste.

Umm, Herm booted Dimitri Patterson after the Jet’s game last year, if you recall.

No real shock that a player Herm didn’t want is on a good team now. Boone, Babin, and McBride stand alone as the only Hermites who have found work on the open market. Gonzalez doesn’t count in my book because he was traded. No one has sniffed Pollard’s way yet. We may not be a great team right now, but at least we’re heading in the right direction.

  • September 23, 2009  - Stiv says:

“CB Dimitri Patterson – yet ANOTHER former Herm’s Chief on another NFL roster – heh heh heh!”

    - that statement was very concise – one would have to be ILL to not discern said. So then to reiterate:

Patterson was & REMAINS another of Herm’s Chiefs who made it with another NFL team…learn to read the printed word with your limited comprehension skills stead of with your hopes & dreams that you imagined said something else…

    heh heh heh!

Rin wins AGAIN – as always!

  • September 23, 2009  - Rin Tin Tin says:

Thanks Stiv! Rin couldn’t have said it any better Himself!

    Mr. Tin,

You’re either with us and are here to provide a positive and sometimes constructive criticism of our favorite team or you’re against us in this feedback area.
If you are an adult male you should be ashamed of yourself and the way you’re representing the Chiefs and its fans, very childish and immature. Really, if anybody related or connected to you saw the stuff you’ve been writing they would think you had issues. Stop embarrassing yourself and your family.
Go somewhere else and practice your insecure comments and suggestions.
    What is the real problem?
    What’s wrong?
    What team do you like?
I’m sure you’d be a person we could all relate to and with, only not during this forum, know what I mean? Seriously, if it’s real and genuine write it, if not don’t waste yours and everybody’s time…

  • September 23, 2009  - Bob Gretz says:

I would rather not Rin Tin Tin or anyone else for that matter posting as someone other than themselves. It’s just a childish thing to do. No one here who works on my website supports it and we choose to simply skip over comments that we know are false and childish.

rin, sorry but I told someone who trains athletes from LT to Aaron Rodgers…and when I said, 28/30(at the time it was) with babin and gonzo being the only ones with jobs…he laughed, and laughed…

its REALLY freaking pathetic…we were one of the youngest teams in the NFL, and you know what, we’re at that same age, yet somehow, we had a bunch of junk that NO ONE wanted…Babin was a former first rounder, hardly a find, and Gonzo wasnt a herm player….

its pathetic…move on from the herm era, we all have. you havent.

its pretty sad that you spend you sundays on this website trying to stir things up….I mean really, you want to waste your time here? when you arent a chiefs fan?

you are the type of person that makes me angry, not due to your chiefs hatred, but because you could actually do something with your life i assume, yet you choose to be a complete waste of space.

Really, have fun with that, the rest of us pretty much just feel bad for you…but only to an extent…eventually it went from bad to impossible to read…nothing about it is poetic…you are close though, since its PAthetic.

If that’s the case, Bob…then I BEG you, PLEASE create a log in system. That will get rid of 99% of the crap. Appoint a Moderator or two…and we’ll take care of the rest. This could be one of the most sought-after Chiefs websites. Or, it can continue to be BS Central. It’s really YOUR choice. Thanks for the good place to come for Chiefs fans. Now, make it a GREAT place.

  • September 23, 2009  - Pro Scout says:

I second motion Anonymous. This site could be SO MUCH better with a log in system. Heck, I’d even pay a membership fee if it came down to it.

    Analonymous said

    “its pathetic”

    - true, but at 0-6 it will get worse still… 0-20 for sure by season’s end!

“move on from the herm era”

    - more so, took a step or 10 backward; cue ‘The Doors’

“The time to hesitate is through,
no more to wallow in ‘check’s mire,
try win – he can only lose,
and our team’s straits now at 0-6 dire
Come on Jr. make a fire
Come on Jr. make a fire
Can get Shan-a-han HIRED – YEAH!”

This ‘check’ is enough to make a Chiefs fan throw-up!

    “we all have. you havent.”

    - true, Rin prefers waiting until Sunday when he lets the insults hurl…

“its pretty sad that you spend you sundays on this website trying to stir things up….”

    - it wouldn’t be as much fun if we weren’t 0-6 & out of every game before it even starts, but, as we are – more than sad – tragic e’en!

“I mean really, you want to waste your time here? when you arent a chiefs fan?”

    - well if you’re not certain…

“you are the type of person that makes me angry”

    - it’s a gift mine…

“not due to your chiefs hatred’

    - no, Rin’s been a Chiefs fan since 1963…

“but because you could actually do something with your life i assume”

    - said assumption would make you an *** , yes? Si.

“yet you choose to be a complete waste of space”

    - Rin never does anything just halfway…

    “Really”

    - to be sure!

    “have fun with that”

    - indeed He will!

“the rest of us pretty much just feel bad”

    - it’s the company you keep, likely…

    “for you”

    - a gift for Rin? You shouldn’t have! I didn’t get anything for you-

    “but only to an extent”

    - oh, now comes the fine print nee disclaimer… the ‘big but’ as it were (cue Pee Wee Herman bit)

“eventually it went from bad to impossible”

    - it was the best of times, it was the worst of times…

    “to read”

    - is to imbibe knowledge. And what do you learn when you read folks on this blog other than Rin?..

    “nothing”

    - agreed, very little in the way substance (only abuse theirs, appears). Now, what about-

    “about”

    - yes earmuffs, what about Rin’s proffers…how would you describe said?

    “it is poetic”

    - yes, true genius…

    “you are”

    - thank you again. Is anyone as gifted with a keyboard in hand as Rin? What about Shakespeare?

    “close”

    - he was close, though-

    “though”

    - yes 7 second delay – ‘though’, Rin is in a league of His own since-

    “since”

    - yes Miracle Ear, since time immemorial. Now then, about your faulty auditory appendage…

    “its PAthetic.”

    - indeed…

actually, herm’s record is based on fact

your record of Haley losing all games this season, nothing more than a wish on your part…fiction

do you really think ANYONE read that long post you made?

seriously its HILARIOUS that you take anything directed at you, and turn it into the chiefs, “its pathetic” no…YOU are pathetic…

    good luck with that

  • September 23, 2009  - Anonymous says:

by the way rin…the most pathetic part pointed out about KC includes 28 of 29 brought in by herm, without a team

    thats a troubling stat

saying pollard gets signed, thats once again you guessing…may he? sure…but Haley can also lead KC to a super bowl this year…will it happen? Heck no hes lucky to win 5-6….regardless, you state fact on your predictions…Im stating 6 wins in 2 years as fact because IT IS indeed a fact

    WASTE
    OF

  • September 24, 2009  - Rin Tin Tin says:

Pollard has been signed – we have a trend.

    Aaaaaaaand our score now -

    Herm’s Chiefs 7 – & s signed and then released 19 that’ve been signed by NO OTHER NFL TEAM – 0/ZERO!

    heh heh heh!!!

(PS) You know Anal (and you do -double entendre), you pleading the chiefs will not go 0 for 2009 is no different than a Rin/others claiming ‘money pit’ mutt ca$$el will be a BUST – he has been to date.

So you continue championing ca$$el and and Rin will continue sounding the clarion call Herm & Brodie Croyle!

    heh heh heh!!!

I believe it’s problem is that it commits itself so absolutely to an opinion that it begins to believe it must be so. Sort of like a, ah, compulsive liar begins to believe its lies as truth.

Then when its position doesn’t come to fruition, its ego is so struck down that it begins to kick and scream, whine and bicker like a little kid whose toy has been taken away. At this point is when its words become like white noise.

I won’t stop until the Chiefs begin winning. Actually this thing may not be totally worthless. Because of it, I want the Chiefs to win even more so it will go away.
