Another Change To Chiefs Staff
Former Chiefs offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has added some familiar faces to his coaching staff in Buffalo, including Chiefs tight end coach Bob Bicknell.
After the ‘09 Chiefs season was over, head coach Todd Haley did not renew the contracts of defensive line coach Tim Krumrie and assistant offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris. That appeared to be the only deletions the head coach wanted to make on his staff.
But the Bills announced the hiring of Bicknell as their tight end coach on Wednesday, the same position he held last season with the Chiefs. Bicknell came to the Chiefs in 2007 as assistant offensive line coach, then took over the offensive l ine in 2008 and moved to tight ends in 2009.
Joining Gailey’s staff with Bicknell are D’Alessandris, former Chiefs RB coach Curtis Modkins and offensive assistant Kevin Patullo, who was with the Chiefs staff in 2007-08 as offensive quality control. That’s the same position he’ll have in Buffalo. Modkins has been given the title of offensive coordinator/RB coach; he was the RB coach last year with Arizona.
All these additions of fired Chief coaches must have the Buffalo fans brimming with confidence.
Mad….. Now that was funny. Where have all the fans gone on these blogs . 5 comments wow apathy ? Weather sucks/chiefs sucks/Fans sucks I hope for Hunts sake we do something in this offseason, because 5 fans won’t fill the stands. Marty where art tho Marty
Where have the fans gone? College basketball.
As we get closer to the draft the responses will pick up. Debating which LSU player we take in the first round will be a hot topic.
AGREED STEVE, prob the slowest time for bob and his site, but im still here every day, eventhough I may not comment.
PnS, ha is right!! We are grinning ear to ear with our additions this year with Wies and Crennel, I cant say the same for Buff.
but you never now how it will turn out…
As a USC fan I never really cared too much about SEC football and LSU’s recruiting class. Now I just wanna see who the Chiefs are gonna draft 3-4 years down the road… I’m actually hoping the Chiefs reach for McClain outta ‘Bama… Last time we drafted a LB outta ‘Bama with our first pick that seemed to work out alright, I think everyone would agree…
Sr Bowl this Sunday then the big one, followed by the combine. The off-season will really start to pick up steam after the Superbowl with the CBA due up on March 1st which could lead to an uncapped year in 2010. THAT should create an avalanche of conversation fodder, methinks.
As to the draft, I see the top three picks going this way: ILB (I like McClain at #5 overall as well but think he could be available when Cleveland or Buffalo go on the clock. Trade UP for either team to nab a QB at #5?)
Back to my order, next a WR (Benn, Tate, Shipley in about that order) then the best OG (Inpati,M Johnson, Asomoah in about that order). It would be nice to get a good NT somewhere later and some additional RB depth. Nicer still to have many of these holes filled in free agency but the CBA issue might dry up that market substantially.
Okay, that’s my contribution du jour.
Good stuff on the Chiefs site of SR bowl week. You would have to think with all the coaching changes this well be one of our better drafts in sometime ” I Hope “. Does it seem I lost the faith ” maybe ” With everyone talking names I have only one name……..the best player avalable when we draft .
The lack of responses are a result of a lack of CHIEFS news. ESPN and other networks over saturate the market with Super Bowl talk and while it is the big story now, I just don’t want to spend more of my time on it. When some CHIEFS news happens, we’ll see lots of comments soon after Bob reports it.
I am on here every day reading up on what is going on as well even though I don’t comment all the time. It is nice to see that the Chiefs have a good contingent involved ALL the way through the recruiting season instead of just coming in after the Super Bowl like last year. Hopefully will turn into better evaluations.
Steve … that was some funny stuff about the LSU players. Truth is funnier than fiction most times.
I dont know, sounds like Bicknell didn’t care to coach for Haley, as much as he probably liked working with Gailey.. tell you the truth, so far the chiefs haven’t shown anything to delay the fears of having another WTF? type of draft this year. when they draft there will be more to say..
